Nikki Renee Long, a beloved wife, mother, and passionate nurse, departed this world on January 23, 2025, in her home in Pensacola, Florida. Born on July 8, 1974, in Liberal, Kansas, Nikki embraced life with a contagious spirit, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Nikki's journey began in Balko, Oklahoma, where she graduated high school before moving on to Seward County Community College, where she was proud to earn her nursing certification. Her dedication to her profession was profound; the moments she cherished most were those spent caring for her patients and her beloved family. She always said it was not just a career but a calling, one that allowed her to touch lives and contribute to the well-being of others.
In addition to her profession as a nurse, Nikki cherished her role as a devoted wife and mother. She met her husband, Sean, during her five years of service in the Navy, a chapter of her life that she approached with the same enthusiasm and fortitude she brought to all her endeavors. Together, they created a vibrant family, raising their children, Connor and Morgan, with unwavering love and laughter.
Nikki was known for her zest for life and infectious laughter. There was rarely a gathering that didn’t feature her beaming smile and uplifting presence. Her love for her family was palpable; she enjoyed countless hours with them, forging memories that will long endure in the hearts of those who loved her.
An ardent sports enthusiast, Nikki was a diehard fan of the University of Florida Gator football team. Saturdays and game days found her animating the household with her enthusiastic cheers and spirited discussions about her team, which only added to the joy of family gatherings.
Nikki’s legacy is also carried forth by her loving mother, Dorothy Garrett, and her sister, Makayla Hext, who will forever remember her as the vibrant beacon of their family. She is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends who are grieving her loss, yet celebrating the rich tapestry of memories she left behind.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Emberton; her grandmothers, Velma Emberton and Elsie Whetstone; and her grandfather, Robert Whetstone. Their spirits now join her in everlasting peace.
